Question 1 : “You won Miss Ohio USA competing in a pageant for your FIRST time. In addition you made history as there has not been an African American titleholder in 17 YEARS! How did this accomplish feel and what legacy do you hope your reign has left?

“Everything I’ve done in life has been me stepping out on faith, and not living in fear. To break glass ceilings, reminded me that I can do everything I put my mind too.

As Miss Ohio USA my ultimate goal was to aspire to inspire! To inspire not only young girls and boys that look like me but anyone living their life in fear, to get comfortable with being uncomfortable, by chasing their dreams and being themselves unapologetically.

I want people to look back on my reign and be reminded that, even if it feels like the odds are against you, you can accomplish any and everything you out your heart and mind too.

I am currently living in faith to pursue my modeling and acting career full time, and this win served as a reminder to me too that the best things in life are on the opposite side of fear. Don’t allow yourself to become a puppet to fear because your scared of losing, and to chase your dreams boldly and unapologetically!”

Don’t worry about sounding professional. Sound like you. There are over 1.5 billion websites out there, but your story is what’s going to separate this one from the rest. If you read the words back and don’t hear your own voice in your head, that’s a good sign you still have more work to do.

Be clear, be confident and don’t overthink it. The beauty of your story is that it’s going to continue to evolve and your site can evolve with it. Your goal should be to make it feel right for right now. Later will take care of itself. It always does.”

Question 2 : Advice for girls considering competing in a pageant?

“Remember you are in a competition against yourself! It’s you against you! Stay true to your WHY! Why do you want to be a title holder? To be a title holder is a position to serve not to be served. We are all vying to win the competition but there will only be one girl crowned, regardless you will still be able to leave your mark on the stage whether you win or not, if you have purpose in why you’re competing. Crown or no crown you are still a queen and never forget that!”

Question 3 : What would you tell your younger self 10 years ago?

“Be bold, be you, and do it unapologetically! There will only ever be one you, and you’re beautiful exactly how you are! Never lose yourself trying to appease others by diminishing your own light!”
