Why Self-Empowerment and Self-Efficacy is vital in Schools

Self-efficacy has a direct and indirect effect between research components and respondents’ academic achievement. Studies have narrowed in on the cause/effect relationship of self-efficacy and its’ influence of “achievement, motivation, and self learning strategies on participants’ academic accomplishment.” If a student is more aware of his/her capabilities, there is more motivation to take action to perform well because the student believes they can. It boils down to the power of belief. Confidence stems from the belief that you can perform said action. Thus academic achievement skyrockets when confidence does because the students believe they can do well. If students already possess doubt or defeat then the willingness to try declines along with the factors of academic achievement : motivation, dedication, and effort. The highest statistical significant effect was proved by a study the strongest cause of the respondents’ academic achievement was self-confidence. This furthermore proved the importance of learning strategies and an environment to foster self- efficacy.

Schools should consider implenting programs and elements from empowerment organizations that foster creativity and build confidence outside of purely academic exercises. The way  Hands of Hope, a not-for profit organization, founded in 2019 instills confidence in classrooms across the country. I founded Hands of Hope because of the lack of interpersonal skill teaching in school curriculum. My organization presents a customized curriculum with student toolkits that include hands on, interactive activities, presentations, crafts, and materials that build upon the pillars of growing confidence. It is scientifically proven that confidence comes from positive self talk, mindset, and community.  If more schools adopt a self-empowerment plan to put into action in their classrooms, there would be a dramatic increase in students’ believing in themselves and their capabilities! By instilling the design of curriculums from organizations like Hands of Hope, will enable students to soar both academically and personally gaining a new sense of self worth and self-confidence.
